How can I obtain a ZDHC Level 3.1 certificate for relabeled products under my own trade name?
Hello everyone, I am from a chemical company and we currently purchase ZDHC Level 3.1 certified products from a supplier who holds the certification. We relabel these textile chemical products with our own trade names and sell them to customers. Since we are not a formulator, but only buy certified products, relabel them, and resell, I’d like to know: How can our company obtain ZDHC Level 3.1 certification under our own trade names? Has anyone gone through a similar process or can explain what steps are required in this situation? Thanks in advance!
Hi Jacob, If your organisation relabels/renames chemical products that are already ZDHC Level 3 certified by the original Formulator, these products cannot carry ZDHC MRSL Conformance under your own trade name. ZDHC MRSL Conformance is linked to the exact chemical formulation and the formulator’s verified manufacturing process, including management systems and hazard assessments reviewed during certification. If a product is renamed or relabelled, ZDHC and the ZDHC MRSL Approved Certification Body/Standard can no longer verify that it is the same product that was originally certified. Therefore, its certified status cannot be guaranteed under the new name or label. Important: If you wish to sell a product with ZDHC MRSL Conformance, you must: - Keep the original label showing the formulator’s details and the ZDHC Gateway Product ID (PID), ensuring full traceability to the certified product. - If the product is relabelled, renamed, or the original PID is removed, it must undergo a new certification under the new trade name with a ZDHC MRSL Approved Certification Body/Standard. In short: Once a product is renamed or relabelled, it is considered a different product for certification purposes. It cannot carry the ZDHC MRSL Conformance claim or ZDHC Level 3 certification under the relabelled trade name unless it has been re-certified. I hope this helps!
