Recently, the French decree on PFAS was released and effective immediately from 1st of January 2026 and without a cooling-off period. It enforces stricter PFAS limits, 25 ppb for any PFAS excluding Polymers, 250 ppb limit of PFAS measured as the sum of targeted analysis, and 50 ppm For PFAS, including polymers. 1) On one hand, these stricter limits support the faster and more efficient phase-out of PFAS. 2) However, pragmatically, this may put significant pressure on users and manufacturers, possibly disrupting the chemical industry. The ZDHC MRSL Counical would love to know - What is your opinion about this? Do you fully support the new French Decree on PFAS or do you think it is impossible to achieve? This information will support them in their work building the new MRSL. 

Does ZDHC have any database which shows how many industries, especially textile industries, are Supplier to Zero Level 2 Certified?

I have a question. When I accessed to the Higg FEM account on Wordly platform, and in question number 7 of the Air emission section, I saw that the platform only noticed ZDHC air emission guideline, not ZDHC air emission position paper. The supplier used ZDHC air emission guideline to calculate VOCs and GHG scope 1 and 2. And the ZDHC air emission position paper would not be used anymore? Is it right?

Among the certifications valid for validating incoming raw materials, why is OEKO-TEX® STeP certification only indicated for textiles if it also applies to leather?

Can suppliers who have achieved a certain level of achievement include the STZ logo (light blue hexagon with various stars) on their letterhead or in their email signature or similar?

With the transition to the new hub, the guidelines should have been made obsolete, but now I can no longer find the table for sludge that is in scope/out of scope.

Everyone knows wastewater treatment uses a lot of energy, which is a big sustainability challenge. In the textile industry, ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge) is mostly done using MEE+RO systems, traditional systems are still widely used even though they consume huge amounts of energy. Many suppliers focus only on meeting legal rules (compliance) rather than saving energy, because new technologies need high upfront investment and the benefits take time to recover.

Under the ‘Glycols/Glycol Ethers’ category of ZDHC MRSL V3.1, for ‘leather applicability’ of ‘2-Methoxypropyl acetate (CAS No. 70657-70-4)’, there is a general formulation limit of 50 mg/kg and a formulation limit of 1000 mg/kg specifically for ‘leather finishing formulations'. When certifying a sample for the ZDHC MRSL V3.1, how does a laboratory distinguish between a leather finishing formulation and any other general formulation for leather applicability?

Everyone agrees that water is a scarce resource and should be conserved. Textile and leather processing being water intensive industries, all efforts should be made to reduce water use in the wet processes. However, it is seen many times that the cost of water is not reciprocative of the investments (in terms of low liqor machines or water saving chemicals) required to reduce its use and hence water efficiency is not always given the importance that it requires. How can we motivate suppliers to invest in water efficiency? Are there any use cases that demonstrate bottomline benefits due to water reduction at a facility? Would linkage of water use to energy reduction help?

I'm new to ZDHC and am at a bit of a loss where to start. I know we need to do wastewater testing, but where do i start?

I would be interested to hear what others in the industry have found to be best practices to support sustainable dying solutions, and what did not work? Was it just swapping in safer alternatives, or also changing processes, how much infrastructure change was needed?

As some of you know ZDHC is participating in implementation projects in Africa. Egypt, Tunisia, Ethiopia and South Africa are currently at the fore front. Would you be interested in us growing our work on the continent and if so how can we engage best with our community to have more involvement in the projects?

In many regions, especially South and Southeast Asia, the supply chain is dominated by small and medium enterprises (SMEs). While the ZDHC programme offers strong frameworks, adoption remains a challenge due to limited technical capacity, infrastructure, and cost sensitivity. I'm interested to hear from others: •What practical steps or models have worked in supporting SME onboarding? •Are there any specific capacity-building approaches, incentives, or tools you’ve found effective? •How can we ensure measurable progress without overburdening suppliers with reporting fatigue?

While the ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines set clear expectations for semi-treated wastewater quality at the facility level, the ultimate goal of the ZDHC Programme is to ensure zero discharge of hazardous chemicals into the environment. In practice, many suppliers discharge into centralized effluent treatment plants (CETPs) that receive effluents from multiple industries, often outside the textile/apparel sector and not aligned with ZDHC MRSL or ZDHC principles. Given that the final treated water from such CETPs is what eventually enters the environment, doesn't this compromise the ultimate goal of the ZDHC Programme? How does ZDHC address or plan to address this systemic gap, where the final discharge quality is beyond the direct control of compliant facilities?
